RMAC Makes a statement with 26 Teams Featured in National Rankings

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Across all fall sports, institutions representing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference have made their presence known in this week’s national rankings. The RMAC has 26 nationally ranked teams, 14 of which are in the top 10 in their respective sports.  

Cross Country leads the RMAC with eight women’s teams and six men’s teams nationally ranked. Women’s soccer and Men’s Golf have three teams ranked, and Volleyball, Football, and Men’s Soccer all follow with two teams in their respective national rankings.  

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY 

RMAC Women’s Cross Country has had a dominant start to the 2025 season, with eight teams appearing in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll, five of those being in the top 10. The scene is still being set and should shape up to an exciting competition on October 25 at the 2025 RMAC Cross Country Championship hosted by the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.   

Adams State University (No.1) held their position this week, as did Colorado School of Mines (No. 4). Western Colorado University is No. 7, UCCS is No. 8, and Fort Lewis College is No.10. Colorado State University Pueblo held their No. 15 spot, while Colorado Christian University moved up two spots to No. 17. Colorado Mesa University is No. 28 and Metropolitan State University Denver received votes in this week’s poll.  

Adams State, Colorado School of Mines, UCCS, and CSU Pueblo will compete in the Lucian Rosa Invite, hosted by the University of Wisconsin Parkside, this weekend. Western Colorado will travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to compete in the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree.  

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY 

This week, six RMAC Men’s Cross Country teams were nationally ranked in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll, with three maintaining their positions in the top 5. The 2025 RMAC Cross Country Championship is a month away on October 25 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and looks to be a fast and exciting race.  

Colorado School of Mines is No. 2, Adams State is No.3, and Colorado Christian is No. 5. Western Colorado (No. 8) maintains its position, and UCCS (No. 14) and Fort Lewis (No. 18) move a spot up. Adams State, Colorado School of Mines, and UCCS will travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, this weekend to compete in a strong field at the Lucian Rosa Invite. 

WOMEN’S SOCCER 

In the third edition of the women’s soccer national rankings from United Soccer Coaches, three teams appeared in the rankings and two received votes in the poll. The RMAC Women’s Soccer Championship will take place November 7-15 at the campus sites of the highest seeds.  

Colorado School of Mines is No. 9, UCCS is No. 13, and Colorado Mesa is No. 20. Regis University and Westminster University received votes in the poll. Conference play opens this weekend with UCCS hosting Fort Lewis on Thursday, September 25 and Colorado Mesa facing Colorado Christian on Friday, September 26. Colorado School of Mines hosts Fort Lewis and UCCS faces Western Colorado on Sunday, September 28.  

MEN’S SOCCER 

Two RMAC Men’s Soccer teams appeared in this week’s national coaches' poll from United Soccer Coaches. The RMAC Men’s Soccer Championship will begin on November 9 with the championship game set to take place on November 16.  

Fort Lewis moved up four spots to claim the No. 5 position and CSU Pueblo is ranked No. 8. The Skyhawks and Thunderwolves open conference play Thursday, September 25, with Fort Lewis traveling to UCCS and CSU Pueblo hosting Regis.  

VOLLEYBALL 

Two RMAC Volleyball teams were featured in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA)/TARAFLEX Division II National Coaches’ Poll. The RMAC Volleyball Championship will begin on November 18 and run through the 22, with the highest seeds hosting the first round of matches.  

MSU Denver was ranked No. 5 this week and Colorado Mesa is tied at No. 24 with Missouri Western. UCCS and Colorado School of Mines received votes in the poll. Colorado Mesa will host MSU Denver on Friday, September 26, in the Mavericks’ home opener in a league matchup between two top Division II programs.  

FOOTBALL 

Two RMAC Football teams were ranked in this week’s American Football Coaches Association’s (AFCA) Division II National Coaches’ Poll. The D2Football.com Top 25 Poll featured the same. RMAC Football continues this weekend with CSU Pueblo, Chadron State College, New Mexico Highlands, and Western Colorado all undefeated in league play.  

In the AFCA Coaches’ Poll, Western Colorado (No. 7) and CSU Pueblo (No. 12) maintained their positions. Colorado School of Mines and New Mexico Highlands received votes. The D2Football.com Top 25 Poll was similar with CSU Pueblo at No. 12, but Western Colorado was ranked No. 5.  

WOMEN’S GOLF 

In the most recent edition of the Mizuno Women’s Golf Coaches Association's (WGCA) Division II National Coaches’ Poll, one RMAC Women’s Golf team received votes in the poll. There is still a lot of golf left to be played, with the RMAC Golf Championship starting on April 19, 2026, and championship round on April 21, 2026, at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.  

CSU Pueblo received votes in Mizuno WGCA’s second poll of the Fall 2025 season. The Thunderwolves' next competition is on October 13 and 14 in the NCAA West Regional Preview at the Pueblo Country Club, in Pueblo, Colorado.

MEN’S GOLF 

Three RMAC Men’s Golf teams appeared in Golf Coaches Association of America's (GCAA) Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches' Poll. Though early in the season, RMAC Men’s Golf teams have drawn attention and earned their positions in the national rankings. The RMAC Golf Championship will start on April 19, 2026, in Boulder City, Nevada. 

Colorado Christian is tied with the University of South Carolina Beaufort at No. 14. Colorado Mesa moved to No.19 after receiving votes in the previous poll, and CSU Pueblo is No. 24. Colorado School of Mines received votes in the poll. On September 28, Colorado Christian, Colorado Mesa, CSU Pueblo, and Colorado School of Mines will compete in the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya in Akumal, Mexico.
