UCCS’ Jean and Cahoon Sweep First Men’s Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards of 2026

Jean posts a Top 5 time nationally; Cahoon sets standard in the heptathlon

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs sweeps the first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Weekly award of 2026. 
 
Track Athlete of the Week
Sebastien Jean, UCCS (Senior, Colorado Springs, Colorado)

At the Potts Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado Boulder, Jean set a school record in the 400-meter dash with a raw time of 47.23 seconds to finish first overall in a field containing 15 Division I runners. His altitude-converted time of 47.34 was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and leads the RMAC by nearly half a second, while ranking fifth in NCAA Division II. Prior to Winter Break at the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi, hosted by UCCS, Jean opened his season with a victory in the 400-meter dash with a converted time of 48.54 seconds. He was also a part of the Mountain Lions’ 4x400-meter relay team, which posted a converted time of 3:16.96 that currently ranks first in the RMAC by nearly two full seconds.

Field Athlete of the Week
Broden Cahoon, UCCS (Senior, Farmington, New Mexico)

At the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi, Cahoon displayed an all-around excellent performance in the indoor heptathlon. He opened the competition by clocking a time of 6.98 seconds in the 60-meter dash before marking an NCAA provisional qualifying jump of 7.22 meters in the long jump. He finished Day 1 with marks of 10.61 meters in the shotput and 1.76 meters in high jump. The next day, Cahoon posted personal-best marks of 8.78 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles and 2:54.58 in the 1,000 meters, while matching his career best in the pole vault at 3.80 meters. He currently leads the RMAC and ranks eighth in NCAA Division II in the heptathlon, while also ranking third in the RMAC and No. 17 nationally in the long jump.
