Giraudeau and Hurley Garner RMAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Giraudeau’s performances guided the Mavericks to a first- and second-place finishes this past weekend.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University’s senior swimmer Melina Giraudeau and senior diver Jenna Hurley claim the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s women’s swimming & diving weekly honor this week, announced Thursday.

Giraudeau helped lead the Mavericks to a very successful weekend in the Intermountain Shootout meets, which were scored separately.  On Friday, she won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.87-altitude converted) and had top three finishes in all four of her events as the Mavericks won the 6-team meet, beating NCAA Division I foes BYU, Utah, Utah Tech as well as RMAC rivals Western Colorado and Adams State.  In Saturday's meet, Giraudeau won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.19-altitude converted) while recording three other second-place finishes to lead the Mavs to a second-place effort well ahead of Utah, Utah Tech, Adams and Western.  Throughout the weekend, she posted NCAA “B” cut times in each of her four NCAA Championship individual events. The senior also finished third in the 100-yard IM (58.29-altitude converted), third in the 200-yard IM (2:05.43-altitude converted), second in the 50-yard breaststroke (29.70), and second in the 400-yard IM (4:23.09-altitude converted). She was also part of two second-place relay teams: the 400-yard medley relay (3:44.93-altitude converted) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.27-altitude converted).

Diver
Jenna Hurley, Colorado Mesa (Sr., Southlake, Texas)
Hurley helped lead the Mavericks to wins over Division I opponents BYU, Utah, Utah Tech, and RMAC foes Adams State and Western Colorado during the Intermountain Shootout meets over the weekend. She finished third in a field of 14 and ahead of six Division I divers in Friday's 3-meter event, scoring 235.55 points on six dives. That effort allowed the Mavs to take first place as a team in Friday's meet. She then scored 227.05 points to finish fourth in a field of 15 during Saturday's 1-meter event, helping the Mavs take second behind only BYU in Saturday's meet, which was scored separately. Hurley also defeated six Division I divers from BYU and Utah in that event. Both of her scores are the best in the RMAC and rank her fourth (3m) and sixth (1m) in Division II this year, according to Swimcloud.
