COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its latest Men’s Basketball Player of the Week awards on Monday, with Colorado Mesa University’s Ty Allred and Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Brian Unachukwu taking home the Offensive and Defensive awards, respectively. RMAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week awards are presented by Genesee Nutrition.
Offensive
Ty Allred, Colorado Meas (R-Senior, Guard, Mona, Utah)
For the fourth time this season, Allred has been named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week. The redshirt senior earns his latest honor after leading the Mavericks to a 1-1 week.
Allred opened the week with a standout performance against Westminster, pouring in 28 points across 38 minutes. He shot an efficient 47% from the field, 56 % from beyond the arc, and 83% from the free-throw line. In addition to his scoring, he grabbed seven rebounds and recorded two blocks.
He responded with a dominant showing against Western Colorado, guiding his team to a 100-90 victory. Allred tallied 26 points while shooting 56% from the field, 60% from three-point range, and 83% from the charity stripe. He also contributed four rebounds and a block in the win.
With his two strong outings, Allred surpassed 1,040 career points at Colorado Mesa. He currently ranks second in the conference in scoring (18.9), seventh in field-goal percentage (50%), sixth in three-point percentage (41%), fifth in blocked shots (31 / 1.2), and third in rebounds (7.5).

Defensive
Brian Unachukwu, MSU Denver (Senior, Forward, Atlanta, Georgia / Nigeria)
Unachukwu earned his second Defensive Player of the Week honor after anchoring MSU Denver’s defense during a 1-1 week.
In a 73-65 victory over Colorado Christian, Unachukwu was a force, swatting five shots, collecting two steals, and pulling down seven rebounds. He followed that performance with another strong showing against Colorado State University Pueblo, adding three more blocks and five rebounds, continuing to disrupt opposing offenses.
The senior leads the RMAC with 57 blocks this season, nearly 20 more than the next closest player. His total also ranks 19th nationally.
