Chadron State’s Villwok Soars to RMAC Men’s Wrestler of the Week Award

Villwok records a major decision win in a highly competitive conference dual

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chadron State College sophomore Mason Villwok is the latest recipient of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Wrestler of the Week award, the conference announced Tuesday.

Villwok, ranked No. 20 nationally by The Open Mat, earned a decisive 16-4 major decision over No. 19 Ben Tonnessen of Adams State. Villwok’s victory came by scoring nine points in the first period behind four takedowns, a three-point near fall, and a riding time point. Tonnessen’s only points came on escapes, as the Eagles’ sophomore controlled the match. The win improved Villwok to 4-0 in RMAC duals this season and marked his third straight victory with bonus points. His bout was one of only two matches out of ten to feature bonus points in a highly competitive dual between the No. 16 Eagles and No. 15 Grizzlies.
