UCCS’ Goldsworth and BHSU’s Geschwill Claim First RMAC Softball Weekly Awards of the 2026 Season

Goldsworth records 18 hits in 28 at-bats; Geschwill holds opponents to .135 hitting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –  The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced its first Softball Player of the Week awards, with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Jennavieve Goldsworth and Black Hills State University’s Kaitlyn Geschwill earning the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively.

Jennavieve Goldsworth, UCCS (Junior, Utility, Roseville, California)
Goldsworth had a major impact for the Mountain Lions, as her team went 4-1 to start the 2026 season. In the team’s first matchup against Sul Ross State, she delivered a standout performance, going 5-for-6 at the plate with three stolen bases, three runs scored, and two RBI. The five-hit outing marked the first by a UCCS student-athlete since the 2020 season.

Later that day against UT Permian Basin, the Roseville, California, native continued her strong start, recording two hits, one run, and one RBI in four plate appearances. Behind Goldsworth’s offensive spark, UCCS earned victories over Sul Ross State and UT Permian Basin by scores of 15-13 and 18-4, respectively.

The junior stayed hot on Saturday against Western New Mexico, opening the day with a three-hit, two-RBI performance to lift the Mountain Lions to a 7-4 win. In the second game of the day, she went 2-for-3 and accounted for both UCCS’ hits in a loss to West Texas A&M.

Goldsworth capped the weekend with another strong showing, going 1-for-4 with a walk and three stolen bases in a 12-0 run-rule victory over Sul Ross.

Kaitlyn Geschwill, Black Hills State (Junior, Pitcher, Pequot Lakes, Minnesota)
Geschwill was a major contributor for the Yellow Jackets, dominating the circle in her five relief appearances, as BHSU posted a 3-2 record. The junior’s first outing came against Mary, tossing one scoreless inning with two strikeouts, including catching one batter looking, to earn a 0.00 ERA.

She followed that performance the next day against Minot State, again posting a 0.00 ERA while facing 11 batters. In Saturday’s contest, Geschwill struck out five batters, caught four looking, while allowing just one walk to help secure an 8-6 victory. Later that day, she made a second appearance against Minot State, pitching two innings with three strikeouts and a 3.50 ERA while facing 11 batters.

The Yellow Jackets closed the weekend with a split against MSU Billings. In the opener, Geschwill logged 5.1 innings with a 1.31 ERA and recorded a weekend-high nine strikeouts. She then capped the weekend with another scoreless outing, pitching 3.2 innings with a 0.00 ERA as BHSU earned an 11-6 win.

Across 15 innings pitched, Geschwill allowed just two earned runs on seven hits, posting a 1.07 WHIP and holding opponents to a .135 batting average. She did not surrender an extra-base hit over the weekend and earned two individual wins.
