UCCS Claims Back-to-Back RMAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships

Mountain Lions sweep Men’s and Women’s team titles

GUNNISON, Colo. –  The University of Colorado Colorado Springs won its second consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship after concluding Day 2 of the event with 124 points. The Mountain Lions’ victory was fueled by seven podium finishes across five events.

Isaac Haynie of South Dakota Mines opened day two with a win in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 8.11 seconds. In the 60-meter dash, Colorado Mesa University’s Mateo Casados claimed gold with a new NCAA Division II No. 12 time of 6.69 seconds. Joseph Randolph of Colorado Mesa won the 200-meter dash in 21.45 seconds. Kenny Greene of Metropolitan State University Denver ran 48.49 seconds in the 400 meters to earn first place.

The top three finishers in the 800 meters all broke the RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championship record, but Tim Anstett of Colorado State University Pueblo secured the win and the official new record with a time of 1:51.48. CSU Pueblo’s Jon Sweepe won the mile in 4:11.85. In the 3,000 meters, Adams State swept the podium, with Felix Perrier winning in 8:21.44 in a field that saw nine additional runners record NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times.

Jake Hall and Everett Gilbert entered a jump-off after tying in the high jump. Both competitors shared first place with a best mark of 2.01 meters. Chayton Bynes of Chadron State recorded a 15.99-meter mark in the triple jump to win the title and set a new RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championship record. The jump was one centimeter shy of his NCAA Division II No. 1 mark of 16.00 meters. South Dakota Mines’ Augustus Fink and University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Michael Roberts each set new RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championship records in the weight throw, but Fink secured the win with a throw of 20.21 meters.

Dylan Arvayo of UCCS won the heptathlon with 5,185 points.

Colorado School of Mines’ team of Logan Meade, Tim Thompson, Liam Currie and Jonah Fallon captured the 4x400-meter relay title in 3:15.02.

At the conclusion of the event, Owen Johnson of South Dakota Mines received the Summit Award for achieving the highest grade point average among competitors at the 2026 RMAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Kenny Greene of MSU Denver was named Track Athlete of the Meet after scoring 18 points by winning the 400-meter dash and coming in second in the 200-meter dash. 

Chadron State’s Chayton Bynes earned Field Athlete of the Meet honors after scoring 16 points across a win in the triple jump and third-place finish in the long jump.

Isaac Haynie of South Dakota Mines was named Freshman of the Meet after a 10-point weekend highlighted by his win in the 60-meter hurdles.

Attention now turns to the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championship in Virginia Beach, scheduled for March 13-14. The final list of participants for the national championship will be released Tuesday, March 3.
