COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico Highlands University junior Jazmyn Griego and Colorado State University Pueblo senior McKenna James are the Week 5 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively, the conference announced Tuesday.

Jazmyn Griego, New Mexico Highlands (Junior, Utility, Albuquerque, New Mexico)
Griego has been named Player of the Week following a 1-3 weekend for the Cowgirls against Black Hills State. Over the four-game road series, the junior stepped to the plate 17 times and recorded 11 hits for a .647 batting average, while driving in 11 runs and scoring three. She also struck out just once during the series. New Mexico Highlands scored 27 total runs over the weekend, meaning Griego accounted for 14 of them.
The Albuquerque, New Mexico native was productive throughout the series, opening with three hits and four RBI in game one. She followed that performance with another three-hit outing in game two, adding two RBI and a home run. Although she was quiet in the first game of day two, Griego bounced back in the finale with an explosive performance, collecting five hits and five RBI while posting a 1.400 slugging percentage and a perfect 1.000 on-base percentage.

McKenna James, CSU Pueblo (Senior, Pitcher, Windsor, Colorado)
James anchored the CSU Pueblo pitching staff during a 4-0 week against Regis University. The senior went 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA across 13 innings of work, allowing just one earned run while striking out 10 batters. Opponents hit just .220 against her over the course of the series.
Her best outing of the week came in a complete-game shutout, where she faced 29 batters, striking out six while allowing only five hits. In the 5-0 victory that helped lead the ThunderWolves to the sweep, James held Regis to a .192 batting average.
