Clarke posts top collegiate 100-meter hurdle mark; Templeman opens season with qualifying mark in javelin

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico Highlands University senior Patreece Clarke and Colorado State University Pueblo sophomore Keturah Templeman claim the first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Weekly Outdoor Track and Field Awards, presented by Genesee Nutrition, announced Wednesday.

Track Athlete of the Week

Patreece Clarke, New Mexico Highlands (Senior, May Pen, Jamaica)
Clarke won the 100-meter hurdles at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Early Bird Invitational with a personal-best time of 13.02 seconds.  It is the best mark across all divisions in the 100 hurdles in the season’s opening weekend. She bested the field, which included several Division I runners, by more than a second.

Field Athlete of the Week

Keturah Templeman, CSU Pueblo (Sophomore, Greeley, Colorado)
Templeman was the top Division II performer in the javelin throw at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Early Bird Invitational, with a throw of 46.00 meters (150’ 11”) that was fourth in the event. She also posted a personal best in the hammer throw and had a Top 10 finish in the shot put in the outdoor season-opening meet. In the javelin, she finished behind three Division I competitors while posting the seventh-best mark and a provisional qualifying mark in Division II this season.
