44 RMAC Representatives Selected to Compete in 2026 NCAA Division II Men’s Indoor Track & Field National Championship

Nearly half of all distance competitors hail from the RMAC

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. –  Selections for the 2026 NCAA Division II Men’s Indoor Track & Field National Championship have been announced by the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee. This year, 44 individuals from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference have earned a bid to compete on Division II’s highest stage.  

For each individual event contested, the top 18 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. The top 12 declared relay teams (one per institution) were accepted, and the top 16 declared student-athletes were accepted in the heptathlon and pentathlon. 

Adams State University leads the league with 11 student-athletes slated to compete. Behind the Grizzlies is Colorado School of Mines with eight qualifiers. University of Colorado Colorado Springs will send six student-athletes, while Western Colorado University and Colorado State University Pueblo will each send five. Colorado Mesa University and Colorado Christian University are both set to bring two competitors, while Black Hills State University, Fort Lewis College, Chadron State College, and South Dakota Mines will each send one student-athlete. 

Housem Hrabi and Kidus Begashaw lead the Grizzly contingent, as both hold the nation’s top times in their respective events. Hrabi ranks No. 1 in the mile with a time of 3:57.4, while Begashaw holds the fastest times nationally in both the 3,000-meter (7:50.1) and 5,000-meter (13:27.4) races. Chayton Bynes of Chadron State College leads the country in the triple jump with a mark of 16.01 meters. 

The championships will be held March 13-14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. Norfolk State University and Visit Virginia Beach will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
