Dominican’s Elfline, Colorado Mesa’s Flores Capture RMAC’s Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Elfline scores back-to-back five-goal outings; Flores powers Mavericks defense in home-opening win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –   Dominican University of California’s Will Elfline and Colorado Mesa University’s Manny Flores are the latest Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week, presented Monday and encompassing all action from Feb. 24-March 8.

Offensive

Will Elfline, Dominican (Sophomore, Attacker, Scottsdale, Arizona)
Elfline posted back-to-back five-goal outings in Dominican University’s two matches, both narrow losses. In an 11-8 loss to Dominican (N.Y.), he had five goals on eight shots on goal, including the match’s first goal and three unassisted tallies. Two days later, Elfline posted five unassisted goals in an 11-9 RMAC loss to Northwest Nazarene, again putting eight shots on goal but adding an assist. He finished the week with 11 points, jumping to the top of the league leaders in goals per game (3.00) and No. 2 in points per game (3.40).

Defensive

Manny Flores, Colorado Mesa  (Junior (RS), Defender, Snohomish, Washington)
Flores set career highs in caused turnovers and ground balls to help Colorado Mesa score an 11-10 come-from-behind overtime win against Florida Southern. He was responsible for four of the Mavericks’ seven caused turnovers in the win. Flores was also credited with two of CMU’s 22 ground balls in the match. The win helped Colorado Mesa stay unbeaten this season.
