COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa junior Valerie Glenn has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Wrestling Academic Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Thursday. Glenn leads an 11-member First Team Academic All-RMAC roster as selected by the league’s athletic communication directors.
Glenn has been exceptional both in the classroom and on the mat for the Mavericks, maintaining a 3.98 grade-point average in English/Secondary Education. The junior is a returning First Team Academic All-RMAC honoree and a three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American. Competing at 160 pounds this season, the Gilroy, California, native posted a strong 13-4 record, highlighted by 11 bonus-point victories, including six technical falls and four pins. Glenn also captured the York Open title, placed third at the Eagle Women’s Open, and finished fourth at this year’s RMAC Championships.
Glenn headlines an 11-member First Team Academic All-RMAC squad that features representatives from all five of the conference’s women’s wrestling programs. She is joined by returning Academic All-RMAC selections, including teammate Hania Halverson and Chadron State’s Shania Wear, who carry impressive 3.90 and 4.00 GPAs, respectively. Texas Woman’s Maegan Flaherty and Chadron State’s Brianna Vollendroff also earned spots on the Academic All-RMAC team after moving up from the Honor Roll a year ago.
In addition, the RMAC recognized 36 student-athletes, including the 11 First Team Academic All-RMAC honorees, on its 2025-26 Women’s Wrestling Academic Honor Roll.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.
Each institution’s athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league’s athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
