MSU Denver’s Wicks & Regis’ Harmon are Latest RMAC Baseball Weekly Honorees

Mavericks and Mountain Lions square off in pivotal RMAC series this weekend

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Metropolitan State University Denver junior infielder Noah Wicks and Regis University right-handed pitcher Rocco Harmon are the Week 10 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Baseball Athletes of the Week, announced Tuesday.

Colorado Mesa University and MSU Denver continued their unbeaten RMAC runs through last week’s action and are 20-0 and 16-0, respectively, entering this weekend’s action. Meanwhile, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs had last weekend off and sits third in the league standings at 14-1-1.

The first matchup between Top 3 squads takes place this weekend when UCCS hosts Colorado Mesa at Mountain Lion Park in Colorado Springs. MSU Denver returns home and hosts Colorado Christian in a four-game set. Elsewhere, fourth-place Colorado School of Mines hosts sixth-place Regis, and fifth-place CSU Pueblo hosts New Mexico Highlands. Adams State has the week off.

Noah Wicks, MSU Denver (Junior, Infielder, Golden, Colorado)
Wicks batted .765 (12-of-17), scored 12 runs, and batted in eight while leading MSU Denver to a series sweep at New Mexico Highlands last week. He started the series with a 6-for-6 performance that included a double, five RBI, and four runs scored. In Friday’s doubleheader, he was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored in the opener before going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored in the nightcap. He finished the series a home run shy of the cycle in a 4-for-4 effort that included a double, triple, and five runs scored.

Rocco Harmon, Regis (Junior, Right-Handed Pitcher, Fort Collins, Colorado)
Harmon held Colorado Christian to one earned run over 8.0 innings, leading Regis to a 12-6 series-opening win last week. In the longest start by a pitcher in RMAC play this season, Harmon scattered four hits and two walks while striking out four of the 31 batters he faced.
