COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines senior outfielder Alex Dunagan is the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Academic Player of the Year, leading a 13-member First Team Academic All-RMAC Team selected by the league’s athletic communications directors.
Dunagan, a Cypress, Texas, product, also returns as a First Team Academic All-RMAC selection and was the RMAC Summit Award winner at the RMAC Baseball Championship, and owns a 4.00 GPA as a mechanical engineering major at Colorado School of Mines. He played in 54 games this season and batted .346 with 25 doubles, 13 home runs, and 73 RBI. Dunagan enjoyed a breakout run at the RMAC Baseball Championship tournament, earning all-tournament honors after batting .458 (11-of-24) with three doubles, five home runs, and 16 RBI.
Dunagan leads a 16-member First Team Academic All-RMAC unit with seven of the league’s nine baseball-sponsoring institutions represented. Three individuals returned as First Team Academic All-RMAC selections: Dunagan, New Mexico Highlands’ Lubby Marrujo, and UCCS’ Ryder Mancuso.
In addition, the RMAC recognized 109 student-athletes, including First Team Academic All-RMAC honorees, on its 2026 Baseball Academic Honor Roll.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.
Each institution’s athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league’s athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
